22 January 2010
After a furious start to two thousand and nine it might have seemed unusually quiet in the Lowly Knights’ camp recently. But over the last few months we have been hard at work to get our second record completed, as well as adjusting to some line-up changes. And now we are officially out of hibernation! Here are some things we are excited about:
First, as mentioned, we finally get to put our second EP into your hands! To the hum of distant voices – The Hollow EP will be available on We Collect Records from the 22nd of February and we can’t wait for people to hear it! We are really proud of this recording, and it is special for a couple of reasons.
One being we think it is our best work to date with six of our finest songs and arrangements. The other being that it is the final release we’ll do as a twelve piece and we really hope this record celebrates that chapter together.
Secondly, we’re delighted to let you know that we will be touring the UK for a week next month with our dear friends, Six Star Hotel. We think SSH are one of the most talented bands to come out of Belfast, and it will be a blast to get out on the road with them (check them out for yourselves - myspace.com/sixstarhotel).
2010 is gearing up to be another busy one so we hope to see you all soon!

Tours, Tales & Tides
We booked a nine-seater family saloon with the ill-thought presumption that the six of us and all our gear would fit in. Luckily a beastly fifteen-seater minibus arrived! It seems CD players and door handles do not come as standard, but at least we each had a seat to ourselves. We spent an evening in Edinburgh with a few friendly faces before shuffling along to The Captain’s Rest in Glasgow the next day. Our first gig with our tour buddies Six Star Hotel was a good auld confidence booster and we felt good to be back on the stage. Late into the night a drunken metaphysical reality chat was conducted by our resident guru Jonny involving tabletop props of all sorts.
Through the snow we arrived at Lancaster’s Student Union where the bands were given a miserly 20 minutes to soundcheck so as not to disturb a graphic first aid presentation in the next room. Not for the last time, soundman Jordie pulled some magic out of the bag. Support came from university heroes Oxygen Therapy in their last ever gig. RIP.
And on to London. Congestion Charge? Parking Violation? Pah! The Hoxton Underbelly welcomed us, Six Star, and our Belfast brothers Panama Kings who completed the line-up that night. Beautiful place, oddly fashionable people, thanks for having us. See you in court, Boris.
Opposite Coventry Cathedral where angels climb high on glass walls, The Golden Cross celebrated the city’s local legends with graffitied images of The Specials and The Enemy among others on the inside walls. Support local music, yo! Cheers to our main man Lee Mitchell who provided our first rider of the tour!
Twelve hours after leaving Coventry, when thoroughly sick of I Spy and Service Stations and Wimpy bean burgers, we were pulled over by the cops just a couple of miles outside Edinburgh. It was after midnight and snowing. The road was impassible. Pincer vodka fuelled banter kept us alive.
It was on to Dundee for our last show the next day, and we were joined by a few well-travelled, beautiful superfans. Stage sharing aplenty, the SSH boys invaded, we duly retaliated. Cracking show. Knackered the next day, we boarded the boat home and sipped on white tea all the way.
Welcome to 2010

Back to Belfast
Folks, it has been a while but we are pleased to announce that our first Belfast gig in seven months will be on Friday 16th of April in the Spring & Airbrake.
The past while has been quite the rollercoaster with recording The Hollow EP, line up changes, and an amazing UK tour, and now we're delighted to back on a friendly and familiar stage. The night will include support from More Than Conquerors, Maguire & I, Captain Cameron, Not Squares DJs, and more.
The proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity’s
Should be a grand evening!
